Dreaming of a Green Christmas

Every year about this time we wonder what new products are coming along that use green energy, and this year is no different.
We have used the new solar powered Christmas lights extensively for the past few years with great results.
They are not very expensive either running about the same as AC powered models. We even see them on sale occasionally this time of year if you keep your eyes open.
These little units are powered by a 1 watt panel that comes equipped with a small battery unit right inside. All day long power is stored in the battery and at night a sensor tells the lights to come on.
They light up for about 4 hours with a full charge and then simply turn off when they get low on power. No need to turn them on or off. Truly a set it and forget it option.
A great green option for the family looking to save a few dollars on their electric bill, and still have the holiday spirit. There is just something about the colored lights that brightens the spirit. No need to do without just because we are trying to conserve energy.
The second item on our stocking stuffer list of green products this year are sun powered backpacks.
Even us oldsters think these are pretty cool. (Do people still say cool anymore?) And, best of all for parents they are very functional and practical.
Tired of buying your kids batteries or battery packs for their phone, ipod or mp3?
These little units have universal charging options for any rechargeable unit. Best of all you can charge on the fly, never letting that battery get low ever again.
Set it and forget it, once again. A parent’s dream come true if you ask our product testers. Some even come with Lithium batteries which are pretty compact. It’s not like you have to carry around a car battery on your back to make this work.
Give them a try, or let your kids have a little snoop around at them first, they will tell you if they like them.
Something for everyone this year, from outdoor lights that are greening to portable power stations you can carry just like your laptop carrier pack or bag.
Pretty good deal too, considering that you won’t be buying batteries anymore.
